GOOD NEWS: Brendan Rodgers review the return of former key player few minutes ago…

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers says taking Arne Engels out the firing line after a comfortable 4-0 Hoops win over Motherwell.

The champions struggled to break down the visitors in a stop-start first 45 minutes during this Premiership clash. Engels’ penalty calmed any lingering nerves from the stands before an onslaught in the second half provided goals aplenty.

Daizen Maeda, Nicolas Kuhn and Reo Hatate put the icing on the cake in another victory for Celtic after a 0-0 draw at Dundee United. Rodgers brought in the midfielder from Augsburg but performances have been mixed after an £11m deal.

The champions stepped it up after the interval as they led 1-0 through an Arne Engels penalty-kick just before the break.

The Fir Park side had provided solid opposition in the opening 45 minutes, but were left in the slipstream of a much-improved second period as Daizen Maeda, Nicolas Kuhn and Reo Hatate struck to make it a perfect day for the hosts in Paradise.

At 0-0, Maeda was played through on goal and had his initial shot saved by Motherwell goalkeeper Aston Oxborough. As the ball hung in the air, Maeda fearlessly attempted to challenge for the rebound but received a high boot to the face as the keeper and defender scrambled to clear the danger.

In the same move, Paulo Bernardo was penalised for a high boot, despite his effort being at knee height. The decision left many questioning why the earlier foul on Maeda was not punished.
