Former Leicester City star open to shock return, Steve Cooper is keen

One former Leicester City player is reportedly interested in a return to the team after leaving in 2020.

Leicester City so far in the 2024/25 Premier League season have found themselves on the back of several heavy defeats, however a victory against Bournemouth before the international break currently sees them in 15th in the table.

The signings made by Leicester have not quite lived up to their expectations, barring the odd exceptions of Facundo Buonanotte and Caleb Okoli, and as a result, Steve Cooper and the board may easily be already looking to make further transfer moves in the upcoming January transfer window.

One player has been linked with a return to Leicestershire, and with him seemingly being interested in a move, Cooper may very well splash the cash on the former Foxes star.

Leicester City interested in former full-back Ben Chilwell

As a result of the fairly shaky depth at left-back, which consists of Victor Kristiansen and Luke Thomas at this moment, Leicester City are reportedly looking to bolster their options with the return of Ben Chilwell, per FootballTransfers.

The foxes are reportedly interested in bringing the former star in on a loan deal, and the 27-year-old is seemingly interested in a return to Leicestershire.

Chilwell, who currently plays for Chelsea under former Leicester boss Enzo Maresca, has been told that he is allowed to leave the club, and the former England international will be hoping that he can reignite his career away from Stamford Bridge.

Leicester City should go all out for Ben Chilwell deal

The fact that a former England international, let alone a former Foxes star, is available in a low-cost and low-risk loan deal is a blessing, and one that Cooper should insist that the Leicester City board take full advantage of.

The side based in Leicestershire will without a doubt benefit from the return of Chilwell, from the necessary and essential boost in squad depth at left back to the experience that he has tallied up from several seasons in the Premier League and England, whilst also making his name in the Champions League.
