Door now open for Nottingham Forest to re-sign £14.3m striker in January
One of Nottingham Forest’s top priorities in January has to be signing a striker, and they’ve just been given the perfect opportunity to do so.
It remains to be seen as to whether Chris Wood’s presence puts off potential striker targets in January.
Given his fantastic start to the season, it won’t be easy for anyone to push him out of the starting XI at the City Ground, which could make Nottingham Forest an unattractive destination.
Yuri Alberto is a name that has been linked, though he seems to be in two minds over whether to seek a dream move to the Premier League or stay and improve at Corinthians.
Another name could be thrown into the mix for January, as a player Nottingham Forest almost signed earlier on this year has been made available.
Chuba Akpom made available for loan amid Ajax struggles
Nottingham Forest failed to sign Chuba Akpom back in the January transfer window, as they offered £12.6 million instead of the £14.3 million Ajax wanted.
He’s failed to impress this season in Holland, scoring seven goals in 27 appearances in the current campaign.
It’s stated that Chuba Akpom dreams of returning to a number 9 position and is now inclined to be loaned.
Footmercato say according to their information, he would not be against an experience in Ligue 1.
A temporary option for Nottingham Forest?
Well, a loan move would depend on whether Alex Moreno is signed permanently in January.
James Ward-Prowse and Moreno currently occupy the only two spots for Nottingham Forest.
There are doubts over whether Akpom would be suitable for a move back to the City Ground, given his struggles last time where he featured seven times and failed to score.
However, he’s improved since then, scoring 34 goals in 82 games as one of the most prolific strikers in the Championship.
