Done Deal:Sam Byram, I will not play again Leeds united key player has decided to quit due to…
Daniel Farke must choose to renew Sam Byram’s contract over Junior Firpo as the pair edge towards the final six months of their deals at Leeds United.
Byram has been dubbed “an absolute dream” at Elland Road this year, filling the void left by Firpo as he served his three-match FA suspension for headbutting Danny McNamara in the 1-0 loss against Millwall.
As per Leeds Live [1 December], Byram, Firpo and free agent acquisition Josuha Guilavogui are entering the final months of their deals at Elland Road leaving Farke with tough decisions to make.
Sam Byram is a better option for Leeds United than Junior Firpo
It is time for Firpo to pack his bags at Leeds.
The 28-year-old returned to the starting lineup for the 1-0 loss against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday [30 November], a decision in retrospect was the wrong move as the Whites players returned to the dressing room “very angry” at what unfolded at Ewood Park.
Furthermore, the full-back has shown little desire to renew on fresh terms at Elland Road amid emerging interest from La Liga side Real Betis in his services [Mundo Deportivo]; seemingly Firpo doesn’t fancy a Premier League return if Leeds secures promotion after his struggles in the top-flight last time out.
It feels hugely likely that at least one of Byram or Firpo will not be playing football in West Yorkshire next season. Of course, this is all speculation as things stand, but Angus Kinnear is pursuing a deal for FC Nordsjaelland defender Daniel Svensson [Fotboll Direkt] and it feeliks like there is no smoke without fire.

Svensson may be viewed as a replacement for summer signing Issac Schmidt, who has struggled for game time since he arrived from St Gallen, but in all likelihood, his potential acquisition would be to replace one of the out-of-contract pair.
Byram may be more functional than the flair of Firpo but he feels more reliable and more versatile, and his renewal would prove far less problematic both on and off the pitch.
And considering Jayden Bogle has left a lot to be desired in his recent displays, Byram could be the long-term option at either full-back position – he is by far and away the best option if only one can renew terms at Elland Road.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites have been named as the best transfer destination for the in-demand Daniel Svensson.
