Done Deal: Rangers has finally concluded to sack Philip clement few minutes ago
Philippe Clement is truly facing the pressure at Ibrox following Rangers’ disappointing 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock.
The Light Blues looked massively off of the pace at Rugby Park on Sunday (20 October) as Derek McInnes’ side confidently kept the Gers at arm’s length before snatching a late winner through Marley Watkins.
Clement’s side missed the chance to close the gap to Celtic and Aberdeen at the top of the Premiership table and the manner of the defeat has left some fans questioning whether or not the Belgian is the right man to take the Gers forward.
What has happened to Philippe Clement and Rangers at Ibrox?
Although the suggestion from pundits has been that the supporters could get the 50-year-old sacked if they were to demand his exit [Chris Sutton, 21 October], the Ibrox board’s stance on sacking the manager may have already been revealed.
Clement and the Light Blues shocked fans and journalists alike on the eve of the new Premiership season by handing the Rangers boss a new contract to extend his stay in Glasgow beyond his previous deal.
Will Philippe Clement get sacked at Rangers?
Although Bennett is no longer the Gers’ chairman, the decision to hand Clement that new contract will have been made by the entire board rather than Bennett himself.
If Guidi’s assessment of the situation is correct, it feels unlikely that Clement will be going anywhere anytime soon.
The contract extension was a message to fans to tell them to be patient and back the manager and unless something drastic happens, that message probably won’t change off of the back of a few disappointing results.
