Leeds United could be in line for up to £34million from West Ham United for Crysencio Summerville, according to Sean Whetstone.

Writing via the West Ham Football account on X [31 July], Hammers reporter Whetstone added that a medical is booked for Thursday (1 August).

WOW! West Ham ready to match Wrexham as Shaquille…

The Irons will pay Leeds an initial £25m, which is considered a massive bargain for West Ham, with a further £5m in performance-based add-ons.

The other £4m relates to a clause in the deal that will be triggered should Summerville earn a full senior cap for the Netherlands.

Leeds United could have landed more for Crysencio Summerville

The initial £25m payment on the face of it for a player named the best in the Championship last season is pretty underwhelming from Leeds’ perspective

When you factor in the supposed widespread interest in Summerville from elsewhere across England and Europe, surely Leeds could have held out for a bigger upfront offer?

Bringing in £34m is more like it, but that requires various clauses to be triggered, one of which being his full Netherlands debut.

You would not count against the former Under-21s international doing exactly that, but Leeds are pretty powerless at this point.

Crysencio Summerville financials are thought to be £25m base transfer fee paid in instalments with a further £5m of performance based standard add-ons. An additional clause related to a full senior international debut means Leeds United could earn as much as £34m if all add-ons… pic.twitter.com/bwF3XHkoVZ

It means the club have £34m to work with right now in terms of finding a replacement in attack and strengthening the squad elsewhere.

Players ultimately come and go at Elland Road, but the big question is whether the Whites have been short-changed by this offer? Only time will tell on that front.
