DEAL CONFIRMED:Philippe Clement has just approved the signing of new striker (JANUARY)
Rangers need to sign a new striker and winger in the January transfer window, according to Heart and Hand’s David Edgar.
The Heart and Hand podcast host shared his reaction right after the 2-0 win over St Johnstone on 6 October.
Vaclav Cerny scored a brace at Ibrox on Sunday evening to secure the three points for Philippe Clement’s side.
Via X, Edgar wrote: “We really need a striker and some wingers in January.”
Rangers need to go all-in on a game-changing attacker
Despite Cerny’s brace against St Johnstone, the overall goal tally from the forward line remains insufficient, especially when facing stronger opposition or in critical matches where every goal counts.
A top-tier attacker, be it a winger or a forward could transform the club’s forward line, providing not just goals but also leadership and a psychological boost to the team.
This player would need to be a game-changer, capable of turning matches around when the pressure is highest, ensuring Rangers don’t just compete but dominate in crucial games.
Investing in a high-calibre striker, even at a substantial fee, would align with the club’s ambitions for domestic and European success, offering a reliable scoring threat that’s currently missing, thus potentially deciding the outcome in tight races for trophies.
Hopefully, work has already begun on that front and there is progress made in the coming weeks before the window even opens.
This would mean Nils Koppen getting on the phone and assembling his recruitment team for the targets ahead of the window.
In other Rangers news, the club are now in line for a larger windfall amid a recent £44.3million update.
