DEAL CONFIRMED:Pep Guardiola accepted terms and conditions with Tottenham over a young star..

Tottenham Hotspur secured their spot in the next round of the Carabao Cup last week with their victory over Coventry City.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side are under pressure to finally end their trophy drought this season having failed to make an impression in the cup competition’s last term.

However, the next round in the Carabao Cup will see them come up against the Premier League champions in Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola‘s side prevailed in the last round at home against Championship outfit Watford with a narrow 2-1 victory.

However, not all hope is lost for the Lilywhites with something Guardiola said after their win on Tuesday which may provide Tottenham with some confidence going into the game.

What Pep Guardiola said ahead of Carabao Cup clash against Tottenham

Spurs have already got one better in the Carabao Cup than they did last season after they were knocked out at the first opportunity by Fulham.

However, there will have been sighs from a number of fans on Wednesday night after seeing the draw against City.

But not all hope is lost with Guardiola sharing something very interesting on the back of their win over Watford on Tuesday night.

Speaking to the media earlier this week, Guardiola admitted the Carabao Cup is not a competition he is going to go all out in.

“The next round, I announce you now: I will play the players who play the less minutes or play the second team. “We are not going to waste energy on this competition for sure,” Guardiola told the media.

“I don’t know what will happen, if we have a lot of injuries we play the second team. If we have all the squad ready it’s a good competition to play the rhythm.”

Manchester City have now broken the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium curse

Until last season, Manchester City had not even scored a goal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since its opening in 2019.
