Deal Confirmed: Celtic may be putting cash together for new manager appointment already

We’re approaching the business end of the Premier Sports Cup.

Motherwell were the first through to the last four with a 2-1 win over Dundee United on Friday.

Aberdeen took care of League two Spartans as expected to join them on Saturday, while Rangers were comfortable winners at home to Dundee as the defence of their trophy continued.

It remains the only trophy Philippe Clement has won as Gers boss and after falling short in the title race and Scottish Cup earlier this year, making it Two-In-A-Row in the League Cup could be the boost he needs to kick on after the New Year.

Two more teams remain in the last eight and it would be some shock of Falkirk were to knock Celtic out on their home patch to claim the last semis berth.

This trophy was the only one Brendan Rodgers didn’t lift last term as his perfect cup record as Hoops boss was ended by Kilmarnock, so there’s a determination to be in the hat come 5pm today.

We’ll have all the build up, the draw itself and any reaction LIVE on the blog.

We know the ties now, but when are they?

The Premier Sports Cup semi-finals are pencilled in for the weekend of November 2/3.

Both will be shown live by the name broadcaster with one likely for Saturday 2 November and the other Sunday 3 November.

Record Sport will bring you details on which game gets which date, and kick-off times, in due course.

It’s Celtic who go into the last four, coming back from 1-0 and 2-1 down to put five past Falkirk in the end.

So it’s Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen and Motherwell in the hat.

Now it’s all about the draw – stick with us for that!

Just two minutes ago, Celtic were staring at a shock exit from the Premier Sports Cup.

Then Adam Idah came to play.

The sub striker has hit a rapid double and the Hoops now lead 3-2 with a place in the semi-finals within their grasp.

Given how Falkirk have played so far, it’s by no means game over, but that’s a hammer blow for the Bairns.
