HIGHLIGHTS
Adam Idah’s response to the transfer situation has been criticised by Don Goodman for potentially damaging his career prospects with Norwich and Celtic.
Goodman advises Idah to focus on football and let his performance on the pitch speak for itself to secure a move to his desired destination.
While Idah’s future remains uncertain, his sale could be the best solution for both Norwich and the player, given his inconsistent performances for the Canaries.
Don Goodman has criticised Adam Idah for his response to Norwich City’s decision to hold onto the forward amid growing Celtic interest.
According to the Irish Examiner, the Canaries have rejected a £4 million offer from the Glasgow outfit for the forward.
Idah spent the second half of last season at Parkhead, where he quickly became a fan favourite as his goals helped to secure a domestic league and cup double.
But the situation surrounding the Irishman’s future hit a snag earlier this month when he arrived late for a pre-season flight to Austria, which saw him disciplined by the Championship side.
Celtic are set to submit a new bid for Idah before the 30 August deadline, according to Football Insider, but it remains to be seen whether a deal with Norwich can be agreed.

Goodman believes that Idah has handled the situation surrounding Celtic’s transfer interest poorly.
He believes that the best way to get the move that he wants is to play to his best ability, and force the issue by doing his talking on the pitch.
“I can only presume that Adam Idah’s agent is involved and if he has advised him not to go on tour or play pre-season games for Norwich City, I think it’s poor,” Goodman told FLW (via Grosvenor Sport).
“There’s a right way and a wrong way to do everything.
“When I was at West Bromwich Albion, I got relegated to League One and I felt I was too good for League One.
“But I also knew that, if I proved it, then I’d get a move up the ladder again, which is exactly what happened.
“I know he loves Celtic but if that doesn’t come off, you’d hope he’d be excited at the prospect of playing for a new manager and a team with new ideas and new players.

“He needs to focus on football.
“He has scored 26 goals in 134 games.
“I mean, with respect to him, he’s nowhere near being at a point in his career where he should be almost going on strike and refusing to play football.
“It’s a strange situation.
“He needs to focus on football.
“He’s got ability, but he’s very inconsistent and he needs to find that consistency.
“My best advice would be to focus on football and when you focus on football and you do the business on the pitch, success comes.
“And if you’re successful but the team isn’t, you get a move anyway.”

Idah has been with Norwich since 2017, initially signing for the academy before making his breakthrough into the first team in 2019.
Since then he has been a regular presence in the squad in both the Premier League and the Championship, but he has struggled for consistent game time.
He made 28 appearances in the league for Norwich last season prior to his January move to Celtic (all stats from Fbref).
But he had fallen down the pecking order under David Wagner, and it remains to be seen what kind of role he could have with new manager Johannes Hoff Thorup, if he does stay at Carrow Road.

Adam Idah sale is ideal solution to this situation
While Norwich shouldn’t let themselves be held hostage to a sale, it is still the best solution for all parties this summer.
Idah has been unable to perform consistently for the Norfolk outfit, but has earned a good reputation for his performances at Celtic.
It is no surprise that the Scottish Premiership side want to sign him permanently, as he bagged eight goals from 15 league appearances.
But it is up to them to find a fee that Norwich can agree to, as the forward has a contract until the summer of 2028.
