DEAL CONFIRMED: Celtic has agreed deal to sign a world-class star…
Leeds United ran out comfortable 3-0 winners against Luton Town in the Championship on Wednesday night.
Sam Byram opened his account for the season and the scoring on the night for the hosts inside the opening 10 minutes at Elland Road [27 November], before Joel Piroe doubled the advantage on the stroke of half-time and substitute Dan James settled the clash.
The Whites dominated proceedings against last year’s Premier League hopefuls and have moved level on points with Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United at the Championship summit.
MOT Leeds News has rated the players performances out of 10.
Leeds United beat 3-0 Luton Town
Illan Meslier – 5
Had his blushes spared when Struijk thwarted one of the only threatening attacks from the visitors. A fairly quiet nights work for the Frenchman.
Jayden Bogle – 6
The full-back offered nothing for large parts of the game but did beautifully assist the third of Leeds goals and kept a clean sheet.
Rodon dealt with everything that came his way at Elland Road and made it a really uncomfortable evening for the opposition. The Welshman was a brick wall at the back alongside his centre-back partner.
Pascal Struijk – 9
Stepped up for his side when needed most, making a goal-saving clearance to deny Victor Moses an equaliser with the scoreline 1-0. A proper captain’s performance from the Belgian as he, alongside Rodon, looked formidable on the night.
Sam Byram [off for Max Wober 59′] – 8
Opened the scoring with an acrobatic effort inside the opening 10 minutes at Elland Road and terrorised the opposition on the left flank.
Ao Tanaka – 7
Tanaka is the heartbeat of this Leeds midfield and he continued his incredibly high standards against Luton. The Japanese international was at the heart of all the build-up play and barely put a foot wrong.
While slightly less impactful than his midfield partner, Rothwell has been the surprise package at Elland Road this season and has really stepped up for Farke. He dictated the tempo in the middle of the park and Luton had no answers for the midfield battle.
Wilfried Gnonto – 7
The Italian had a few opportunities to get himself on the scoresheet and helped Leeds overwhelm Luton with an onslaught of attacks. A goal is all that was missing for Gnonto.
Brenden Aaronson lacked the killer edge for Leeds United

Brenden Aaronson – 5
Second guessed himself far too often and played one pass too many to kill the momentum of the Leeds attack on several occasions. Lacked the killer edge to make the difference.
