Daniel Farke says he’s ‘not happy’ with £16m Leeds United star despite massive 4-0 win vs Watford

Over the last 18 months or so, if there is one thing Daniel Farke has become renowned for at Leeds United is his high standards and that was evident again on Tuesday night.

A massive 4-0 win away at Watford saw Leeds take another step towards the Premier League, going five clear of Sheffield United and eight in front of Burnley with both sides in action on Wednesday night.

A brace from Dan James and a goal apiece for Manor Solomon and Joel Piroe saw Leeds register a 20th league win of the season in just their 32nd outing. 14 league games unbeaten, six clean sheets in a row.

Leeds feel unstoppable at the moment unless Farke makes 10 changes in an FA Cup game. However, the result did not completely appease the Elland Road manager, who still commented on flaws in his side.

Daniel Farke is “not happy” with Leeds United star Joel Piroe

Piroe is arguably in his best form since joining Leeds from Swansea for £16m. The striker has already equalled his tally of 14 goals last season, while doubling the amount of assists he managed last term.

Piroe scored one and created another on Tuesday night as Leeds took a step closer towards promotion to the Premier League. Speaking in his press conference though, Farke said he’s not happy with striker Piroe.

“He comes into good situations. We have to make sure that he stays on it. I’m not happy with his goal tally so far. I want him to get close to 20 goals this season. So far, so good,” Farke said, discussing Piroe.

How Joel Piroe compares this season, to his first season at Leeds

In his first season, Piroe was asked to play as a no.10 with Georginio Rutter up front for much of the first half of the season before Farke made a change midway through. Then, he was in and out of the side.
