CONFIRMED REPORT;Nottingham Forest confirm own ownership of Nuno Espirito Santo

Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo is quietly winning over his critics at the City Ground.

The Reds won 1-0 at Anfield last week and it could prove to be a bit of a sliding-doors moment for the Portuguese boss at Forest.

Callum Hudson-Odoi netted the winner against Liverpool last weekend and he’s one of many players who have improved under his tutelage at Forest.

Espirito Santo is a master tactician and he proved as much last weekend when he outsmarted Arne Slot to hand him a first Premier League defeat.

His relationship with Evangelos Marinakis is said to be strong these days but it’s not always been a bed of roses it would seem.

Nottingham Forest considered sacking Nuno Espirito Santo

According to Tom Collomosse writing for the Daily Mail, it’s claimed that Forest considered parting with Espirito Santo on two occasions last season.

It’s thought that when a four-point deduction was confirmed for Forest it made Espirito Santo anxious and that changed his relationship with the hierarchy.

They held reservations over the head coach’s training sessions and Marinakis canvassed the opinion of some senior players on Espirito Santo.

Now, however, the tension has eased and after a full pre-season, it’s thought that Espirito Santo does have the full backing of the board.

That isn’t a surprise considering the club has made an unbeaten start to the current campaign and last week secured arguably the best result since Forest returned to the Premier League.

The recruitment in the summer was admirable and Espirito Santo has benefitted from the backing of the board.

Marinakis liked Marco Silva as possible Forest head coach

The article also claims that the current Fulham manager had an admirer in Marinakis who has employed Silva previously at Olympiacos.
