Clement axes Raskin in two changes – Rangers starting line-up confirmed v Kilmarnock
Philippe Clement has made two changes to his starting line-up as Rangers get ready to face Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership at Rugby Park on Sunday.
The Light Blues announced via their X account prior to kick-off on 20 October that Connor Barron and Tom Lawrence have both returned to the side after failing to start in the 2-0 win over St Johnstone before the international break.
Belgian midfielder Nico Raskin has been axed to the bench while Ross McCausland has been dropped after missing both of Northern Ireland’s matches over the international break due to a niggling injury.
Rangers must pick up three points against Kilmarnock
Rangers will no doubt want to get themselves straight back into gear after the international break against Kilmarnock and come away from Rugby Park with all three points.
The fact that Celtic and Aberdeen drew 2-2 yesterday (19 October) should also motivate Clement’s men somewhat.
Their two title rivals sharing the points was arguably the best result they could have asked for as it doesn’t put either side too far out of reach.
Indeed, there are still six points separating the three teams but if the Gers triumph today, that deficit will be halved, making catching up to both teams far easier.
On paper, this should be an easy win for Clement’s men but, in football, anything can happen.
The Belgian will no doubt be looking towards the in-form John Souttar to help shore up the Gers’ defensive lines and ensure that no goals are allowed to be snuck in.
By the time the end of the season comes around, Rangers’ game against Kilmarnock could be looked back upon as the turning point in their season but only time will tell what the future holds.
