According to a report from the Daily Record (print edition, page 52), Celtic are pushing hard to sign Liverpool left-back Owen Beck.

The Scottish champions have held initial talks with the Reds to sign the 22-year-old defender. They wanted to sign him on loan in January but have not been able to agree on a fee so far for the player.

The Premier League giants are ready to offload him permanently this summer and they want a fee of around £3 million with further add-ons.The Bhoys are looking to sign a new left-back to challenge Greg Taylor, and Beck is high on their list.

Liverpool have Andrew Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas at left-back, and it is hard for Beck to get into the senior side. The Welsh defender is wanted by a host of Championship clubs, including Leeds and Middlesbrough, but Celtic are looking to broker a deal quickly.

Beck enjoyed a fantastic loan spell at Dundee, and there is no reason to believe why he can’t shine at a top club like Celtic.

The Bhoys have money to spend after selling Bosun Lawal to Stoke City for around £3 million. They have also pocketed around £4 million for the sales of Oh Hyeon-gyu and Sead Haksabanovic.
