CELTIC SET TO MAKE STUNNING JANUARY MOVE FOR EX-RANGERS STAR..
Even when the transfer window closes it doesn’t stop the rumours of players leaving. It just decreases the number and frequency of them. For Celtic’s Kyogo Furuhashi, the story about a potential move to the Premier League just won’t go away. Not yet anyway. Could something actually transpire in January?
The story of Manchester City being interested in Kyogo appeared late in the summer transfer window. It caused some confusion, disbelief, and also concern amongst the fans.
Julian Alvarez had left Manchester City for Atletico Madrid. And Kyogo was appearently discussed by the English champions’ recruitment team as a potential replacement during the summer.
As reported by Football Insider, Manchester City had considered signing Kyogo during the summer transfer window. The player was sounded out about the move. He remains a live option going into January, but the club are not in a rush to do so.
Premier League club could look to sign Kyogo from Celtic in January
Fortunately, the move didn’t happen and Kyogo is still at Celtic. The club also signed Adam Idah on a permanent deal from Norwich City and Daizen Maeda provides a third centre forward option if, and when, needed.
That’s not the end of the story about a Kyogo to Manchester move though. Celtic fans can’t rest easy yet. The Japanese striker signed up with a new agent in the summer and it looks like Manchester City have not completely ruled out a future move yet.
It seems Kyogo is still on their radar. There’s still the question of whether his age fits the Manchester City profile though. He will turn 30 in January.
Celtic would want a sizeable transfer fee too. And would it make sense for Kyogo to spend his prime years sitting on the bench for Manchester City, even if it comes with a lot of medals?
