Celtic ‘reject’ Luis Palma transfer bids with £3m payday on the way from alternative winger exit

Celtic have reportedly knocked back offers for Luis Palma going into the final hours of the window.

The Honduran has been on the fringes of the Scottish Premiership champions squad so far this season – with his two appearances coming off the bench. The 24-year-old sparked speculation over his future earlier this week after he was left on the bench by Brendan Rodgers in the win over St Mirren as he posted a cryptic social media. Taking to Instagram, he wrote: “Resilience. What doesn’t break you, rebuilds you, transforms you.”

The move set social media alight for the winger who is behind Daizen Maeda, James Forrest and Nicolas Kuhn in the Parkhead pecking order. The Hoops had shown interest in Lazio winger Gustav Isaksen this week before the Dane opted to remain with the Serie A side – which Record Sport understands could have opened the door for Palma to leave before Friday’s deadline.

However, the path out of Celtic Park appears to be closed. Sky Sports report that Celtic have turned down approaches from clubs in the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 and are not looking to sell the wide man in this window.

One man who does look to be on the way out is Mikey Johnston. After a successful loan spell at West Brom last season, the Ireland international is on the brink of a return to the Hawthorns.

The forward had been on the shortlist of targets for EFL Championship rivals Burnley and Sheffield United but has knocked them back. He is now expected to seal a £3m move to the Midlands.
