Celtic make Adam Idah decision after Norwich City reject bid

Celtic need to sign not one but two strikers this summer. Both Oh Hyeon-gyu and Rocco Vata have departed the club on a permanent basis, leaving Kyogo Furuhashi as the only option up top for Brendan Rodgers. To be fair, the Japanese forward has been world-class in pre-season but more depth is needed up top. Any injury, short or long-term, could leave the Hoops in a world of trouble.

The best-case scenario for Celtic would be signing Adam Idah permanently from Norwich City. He was brilliant during his half-season loan stint at the club in the previous campaign, scoring 9 goals. The highlight was his winner against the Rangers in the final of the Scottish Cup. He also scored superbly away at Ibrox.

Celtic could certainly do with a player like him around to compete with Kyogo for the first-team spot. But signing him has proven to be a tough task this summer.

The club did not have a buyout clause included in the loan deal for Idah. That means that Norwich City hold all the cards right now and they surely have not made things easy for Celtic. But the Hoops are not ready to give up either.

As reported by Football Insider, Celtic will submit a new transfer bid for Idah after Norwich City rejected a £4 million offer in July. The Irish striker is pushing to join the Glasgow club permanently.

It remains to be seen how things play out in the Idah transfer saga. Celtic cannot afford to let things drag out for too long though.

Idah is a fantastic player for sure. But Celtic cannot keep waiting for his situation to resolve for the entire window. They must sign a striker or two and soon, whether that is the Irishman or someone else.
