CCV on the incredible Celtic support on USA Tour and The Fighting Irish
Cameron Carter-Vickers will be involved in the Celtic squad that will take on Chelsea later today (the match kicks off at 9pm Celtic Park Time). The American international defender was late in joining up with his Celtic teammates due to his involvement with the USA squad at Copa America.
Brendan Rodgers confirmed in his own media conference that the game against Manchester City, which Celtic won 4-3, came just too soon for central defender but revealed that CCV will be involved this evening.
Speaking at his own rather short media conference Carter-Vickers spoke about his amazement at seeing Celtic supporters just about everywhere the Celtic squad has been on this Stateside visit.
“It’s crazy. Right from when we arrived in Washington there have been fans around wearing green and white shirts. It was the same in North Carolina and now here. We just want to go out and perform for those fans,” CCV said.
“It’s my first time at Notre Dame, and my first time in Indiana as well. The facilities are amazing. The boss told us before training about the reasons why the Notre Dame college football team was created and the similarities with Celtic.”
Despite having to wait until today for his first minutes of the new season, CCV has certainly made the most of the trip to his dad’s homeland and has enjoyed the trip immensely as he looks ahead to getting his boots against Chelsea to get some minutes under his belt ahead of the league opener a week tomorrow at Celtic Park against Kilmarnock.
“It’s been great. I came in a little late and joined up with the team a couple of days before the game against DC. It’ll be my first minutes of pre-season and I’m looking forward to it,” Carter-Vickers said.
