Leeds United gem Cian Coleman is set to have his loan spell at Buxton extended until the beginning of January, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The Leeds Under-21 player arrived at the National League North side last month on an initial one-month loan deal.

This move has been the 20-year-old’s first taste of senior football and he has seemingly made the transition well with this deal set to be lengthened, according to the YEP (20 November).

Coleman at Buxton an impressive reflection on Leeds United

The step from youth football to men’s football can be the biggest challenge for young players and it’s not unusual to see fledgling talent struggle with this transition.

However, Coleman has had no trouble adapting to life at Buxton making himself a key part of the side since his recent arrival.

In seven appearances since he joined, the midfielder has scored four goals, including a hat-trick in a 3-2 win against Scunthorpe United, and registered two assists so far.

Not only is this impressive form for a midfielder but given this is also the youngster taking his first steps into senior football, it is no wonder Leeds are keen to extend a loan spell that will no doubt continue to build his confidence.

Coleman will also be happy to stay as he will be eager to get as many minutes under his belt as possible, something Buxton seem more than happy to provide him with going forward.

In other Leeds United news, there has been an update on the future of Patrick Bamford ahead of the January transfer window.
