Brendan Rodgers Confirms Imminent Celtic Arrival
Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Celtic is very close to finalising the permanent signing of Paulo Bernardo from Benfica, suggesting that an official announcement could be imminent.
Speaking about the progress of the negotiations, Rodgers expressed optimism that the deal is nearing completion, with Bernardo expected to undergo a medical examination. Reports on Tuesday night had suggested that this had already happened.
“Hopefully, it is a matter of hours as he is due back to have a medical and hopefully everything will go well with that,” Rodgers shared to Sky Sports.
Celtic have already made two additions to the squad but both have come between the sticks. The outfield has seen no strengthening, and even if Bernardo does secure his Celtic move before the flag is unfurled, he still doesn’t improve the starting team.
It’s an extremely frustrating situation. Money is in the bank and the squad had the perfect opportunity to integrate some new, quality talent before the league campaign started.
Now, fans are hoping to see some significant movement in the last month of the transfer window.
The Celtic social media sphere was abuzz on Thursday morning when Whatsapp rumours turned into reality, Celtsarehere exclusively revealed Brendan had taken part in an evening for Celtic investors and during a question and answer session, the Irishman revealed Maeda would be back.
This was after his update a couple of weeks ago which suggested Daizen had played his last game this season.
