With Phil Foden, Grealish, Cole Palmer and Saka all unavailable for this international break, Bowen has been called up by Carsley and should give him an opportunity to rediscover his form.

The worst thing for Lopetegui right now would be if Bowen were to return to the London Stadium with an injury, but given how unlikely it is that he features in the starting XI, it is not a major concern.

In other West Ham news, Darren Bent has named which manager the Hammers should sign instead of Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Darren Bent is not convinced that Ruud van Nistelrooy should be the person to replace Julen Lopetegui at West Ham.

Pressure is mounting on the current manager at the London Stadium, with the Hammers only claiming three wins and 12 points from their first 11 matches of the new Premier League campaign.

The likes of Jose Mourinho and Thomas Frank have been tipped as potential successors to the Spaniard, though Graham Potter has now been mooted as the best option for the Hammers.

Speaking live via talkSPORT on Monday (11 November, 5:08pm), Andy Goldstein said: “West Ham are craving a new manager,” to which Bent replied: “I’d rather Graham Potter than Ruud van Nistelrooy…”

West Ham United to replace Julen Lopetegui with Graham Potter?

It remains to be seen if van Nistelrooy is experienced enough, having only overseen a handful of matches at Old Trafford after Erik ten Hag’s sacking after a short spell with PSV Eindhoven.

Potter, on the other hand, has a wealth of knowledge and experience to back up a potential return to the Premier League, even if his big-money move to Chelsea ended in disaster.

Rising through the ranks with Swansea City and Brighton, the 49-year-old has earned the respect and deserves to be linked with the high-ranking jobs in the top tier of English football.
