Breaking news:We can’t be glad ;Fans fume at Philippe Clement for not winning without Cheating, penalties….

eter Grant has shared howPhilippe Clement reacted to the controversial penalty incident in Rangers’ defeat to Celtic on Sunday.

The Gers were denied a penalty in extra-time in the Premier Sports Cup final and would go on to lose in a penalty shoot-out.

Vaclav Cerny was brought down as he went into the box by Liam Scales with the contact carrying on in the box, but referee John Beaton never gave a penalty and VAR did not overturn his clear and obvious error.

Former Celtic man Grant claimed on Go Radio that the Light Blues boss did not react when the incident happened, saying: “Clement, I’ve watched him, because he was right below me, never shouted penalty and he is usually first up to be jumping with his hands in the air.

“Not one of them and I think it is because his players never done it.”

They will not be involved in the Scottish Premiership this weekend as they have not been assigned to any matches.

The Gers have also been given a formal apology by the governing body for the egregious mistake made in the clash on Sunday.

The Gers are right to be furious with the incident, Clement has been under severe pressure so far this season and victory against Celtic would have secured his job for the foreseeable future.

However, he should be proud with how his team played and how the responded to setbacks during the game, scoring two equalisers to send the game to extra-time.

To lose to the best team in the country in a penalty shoot-out is a huge result and it should have been even better if not for a VAR mistake.

In other Rangers news, the Gers and Celtic could be set for a fine after scenes during the final on Sunday.
