Breaking News:Tottenham want to sign Arda Guler few minutes ago

Tottenham are among the clubs interested in Arda Guler as the Turk grows “frustrated” with his situation at Real Madrid, according to TBR Football.

The outlet reported via its website on Tuesday (22 October) that Guler is growing concerned about his lack of playing time at Madrid.

This has, therefore, put clubs on high alert, with Tottenham, Aston Villa and Newcastle interested in acquiring his services.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City are also aware of the 19-year-old’s talent, but a loan move is a likelier option in January with Madrid not willing to let him leave permanently.

Tottenham join race to sign Arda Guler

There is no doubt about Guler’s abilities as Madrid had to beat competition from arch-rivals Barcelona to his signing in the summer [The Athletic]. However, as a left-footed right winger, the Turkey international might not be the right fit for Tottenham.

Brennan Johnson, who joined Spurs from Nottingham Forest for over £45million last year [BBC], has established himself as Ange Postecoglou’s first-choice winger on the right flank. The North London club also have Dejan Kulusevski and Wilson Odobert in their ranks.

The Premier League club are, therefore, not in immediate need of a right winger. This raises question marks about their interest in Guler, especially as he would only be available on loan.

One option would be for Postecoglou to switch right-footed Johnson to the left wing and play Guler on the right. Son Heung-min, though, already has competition from RB Leipzig loanee Timo Werner on that side.

While Guler is also comfortable playing as an attacking midfielder, this would not be a viable option for Tottenham, who look better balanced without James Maddison – another attacking-minded midfielder – in their lineup.

In other Tottenham news, the club are backed to demand over £40million for this first-team star linked with an exit.
