Breaking News:Sean Dyche sack: Everton consider Graham Potter appointment, could be imminent…

Graham Potter is emerging as a genuine candidate to replace Sean Dyche as pressure grows at Everton, according to Alan Nixon.

The journalist reported via his Patreon [6 January] that due to the 49-year-old being a free agent, the former Brighton and Chelsea boss could be offered the managerial job at Goodison Park.

It is understood that the Toffees are wary of financial constraints while considering an immediate change of manager, with Potter’s zero compensation putting him on an elite shortlist.

Fans could be concerned by Potter’s playing style, especially if the current squad are made to play their way out of trouble, but he remains in the race to replace Dyche.

Graham Potter to replace Sean Dyche as Everton manager?

There is certainly a lot of speculation swirling around Dyche’s future on Merseyside, but with the Toffees only one point above the relegation zone now, that is to be expected.

Following their 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday 4 January, Dyche’s side are without a victory in five attempts, albeit three of those being draws against Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City.

The 53-year-old earned a lot of respect after those Premier League ties but having followed that up with back-to-back defeats, the pressure is fully back on the manager.

With just one goal in their last five matches, it is absolutely clear what the main issue is – scoring. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Beto and Armando Broja are all struggling to hit the back of the net.

That has been a constant theme at Goodison Park over the last few seasons, and while the excitement of The Friedkin Group’s takeover has offered some hope, the same problems continue.
