Ian Darke says Dan Friedkin has shown “ruthlessness” with his sporting interests, as arrangements are made for the American to complete his Everton takeover.

The Friedkin Group also own Roma, and sacked club icon Daniele de Rossi from his managerial position to replace him with Ivan Juric.

High-profile criticism from Claudio Ranieri has been levelled in Friedkin’s direction for his handling of the Italian giants and more specifically of his treatment of De Rossi.

TV commentator Darke, speaking exclusively to Goodison News, said: “It’s still good news for Everton fans because there looks to be calmer waters ahead.

“The Friedkin Group have got a reputation of running sports teams, which is important.

“They’ve shown they can be quite ruthless as they have been at Roma, getting rid of the club legend Daniele de Rossi, so there could be big decisions ahead [at Everton].”
