Ian Darke says Dan Friedkin has shown “ruthlessness” with his sporting interests, as arrangements are made for the American to complete his Everton takeover.
The Friedkin Group also own Roma, and sacked club icon Daniele de Rossi from his managerial position to replace him with Ivan Juric.
High-profile criticism from Claudio Ranieri has been levelled in Friedkin’s direction for his handling of the Italian giants and more specifically of his treatment of De Rossi.
TV commentator Darke, speaking exclusively to Goodison News, said: “It’s still good news for Everton fans because there looks to be calmer waters ahead.
“The Friedkin Group have got a reputation of running sports teams, which is important.
“They’ve shown they can be quite ruthless as they have been at Roma, getting rid of the club legend Daniele de Rossi, so there could be big decisions ahead [at Everton].”
Everton in takeover process
It is anticipated that the Premier League will ratify Friedkin’s deal [Alan Myers, 17 October] with Farhad Moshiri, acquiring the majority owner’s 94.1 per cent share in the club within weeks.
On the pitch, the Toffees secured an important 2-0 win against Ipswich Town on Saturday 19 October, which could prove crucial to ensuring top-flight football at the Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium next season.
