BREAKING NEWS:Rob Edwards confirm the departure of two key players due to few minutes ago…
Towards the end of the summer window, Luton Town were credited with concrete interest in Standard Liège’s Nathan Ngoy.
Back in August, Het Laatste Nieuws journalist Bob Faesen stated the 21-year-old was one step away from joining the Hatters.
The deal didn’t take shape despite the player reportedly making a trip to England to seal a move to Luton Town. Journalist Sacha Tavolieri had reported Rob Edwards wasn’t in favour of this operation.
Fast forward to October and today’s edition of Het Belang van Limburg mentions Ngoy’s failed transfer to the Championship side.
It’s been difficult for centre-back since missing out on a move to Luton Town. The report states Edwards’ side were ‘prepared to pay’ €5m before calling off the transfer.
Towards the end of last month, Ngoy picked up a knee injury in the Jupiler Pro League side’s defeat to KVC Westerlo.
HBVL say the Belgian went under the knife and is set to spend three to four months away from the pitch. He isn’t expected to return until February. After missing out on a move to Luton Town, the player has now suffered another serious setback.
Standard Liège manager Ivan Leko considers Ngoy as the best defender in his squad. His injury will certainly be a blow for the coach.
