Breaking News:’Ready to go’ Tavernier stresses Rangers commitment

James Tavernier insists he is “fully committed” to Rangers and “living the dream” with the Ibrox club.

The long-serving captain has been linked with a move this summer, with repeated reports of interest from Turkish clubs Besiktas and Trabzonspor.

“I just don’t take any notice, basically,” the 32-year-old told RangersTV when asked about the speculation.

“I addressed it towards the end of last season. I am fully committed to the job in hand.

“That’s where my mindset will always be, fully committed, coming in day by day and trying my extreme hardest to push myself and the team on.

“Every single day is joy for me to come in to train. I am living the dream.”

Tavernier has been with Rangers since 2015 and agreed an undisclosed contract extension in 2022 to take him “well into his thirties” at the club.

The right-back, who scored 24 goals last season, missed early pre-season with a hip flexor injury but has featured in recent friendlies against Birmingham City and Union Berlin.

Rangers will kick off their new Premiership campaign away to Hearts on Saturday.

“Sitting on the sidelines watching the lads training, it was hard to do but my body feels a lot better now,” he said.

“Getting two games under my belt before the season starts was key. Personally, I am ready to go.”
