Breaking News:Rangers told to target Premiership star for January transfer as price tag ‘less than £1m’
Andy Halliday still likes to have his say on all things Rangers despite having been a Hearts and now Motherwell player since leaving.
The midfielder has been a Gers fan all his life and still clearly wants the best for the club. He has been outspoken on some of the transfer failings over the years while also giving credit where it has been due.
He is also a big believer in some of the talent on offer in the Scottish Premiership, playing alongside one of the biggest in Lennon Miller, who is surely destined for a big move in the near future.
But there is a player plying his trade for a rival top flight side who the 32-year-old has picked out as one his old club and manager Philippe Clement should be looking at.
Halliday tells Rangers to target Lyall Cameron
The Steelmen star watched Celtic snap up Luke McCowan and insists that would have been a no-brainer for Rangers too.
And he’s urging them to take a look at another talent at Dundee, Lyall Cameron.
Speaking on Open Goal, he said: “See [Luke] McCowan signing for Rangers or Celtic from Dundee, for that’s a no-brainer signing.
“Dundee fans won’t like this, but Lyall Cameron is the next one. Go and sign him, how much is he going to cost? Less than a million quid.
“I’m not talking about snobbery from Hibs. I’m talking about Rangers and Celtic.”
Cameron would be good Rangers squad player
The 21-year-old is out of contract next summer and so would be availbale on a free then or for a cut-price fee in January, with Halliday clearly thinking less than a million would do it.
Cameron has been a regular in the Dundee team for over two years now and hit 14 goals and five assists in their Championship winning season, finding the net five times in the top flight last campaign.
Halliday admits he may not be ready to be an Ibrox first-team regular but could definitely be a squad option.
He added: “I’m not saying this is the player that’s going to come in and make the immediate impact for you, but when I look at the squad players that Rangers and Celtic have signed over the years and spent good dough on, surely go and sign these boys.”
