Rangers signed several unknown quantities in the summer as Philippe Clement brought about change to a team that needed rebuilt.

The manager didn’t quite get the squad that he wanted with issues in a few areas, however, he has been pleasantly surprised by the impacts of Connor Barron and Jefte.

Another player who has impressed in his cameo appearances has been Hamza Igamane, a signing that was questioned when Rangers paid £1.7m for his services to Moroccan outfit ASFAR Rabat.

Rangers tipped to make millions off Hamza Igamane

The 21-year old has a burgeoning reputation in his homeland after helping to fire his old side to league glory, however, little was known about a player arriving at Ibrox from the “army”.

Igamane graduated from ASFAR’s military linked academy, however, his career trajectory was always going to see him in a football strip rather than camouflage fatigues.

Having arrived in Glasgow recovering from injury, fans weren’t happy that they had to wait to see their latest striker in action and Philippe Clement has been patient getting the Morocco Under-23 international up to speed.

Sven Vandenbroeck, who gave Igamane his chance at ASFAR Rabat, has agreements with Clement and the sentiment that Rangers have stolen a march by signing the young striker this summer, as told to The Daily Record:

“So it was the right moment to buy him. If he would play another year or maybe two I think his price would be two or three times higher than what Rangers have paid now. The only doubt I have is the language because, back then, he was only speaking Arabic so I think he has to pick up English classes.

“He was very shy as well but then he played more games for the first team – he had to do more media and other pressures – so maybe he’s already made some progress with that. But I do know the language can be a problem.”

Igamane is the perfect fit for Rangers player trading model

This is exactly the type of signing that Rangers must make if they are to have a successful player trading model.

The recruitment team needs to do its homework and produce more than just statistics on individuals who are talented but need so much more than that to be a success at Rangers.

Having made his debut at Parkhead and his second appearance at Tannadice, Hamza Igamane has shown that he isn’t afraid to take players on and can deal with the physicality of Scottish Premiership defenders.

All he needs to do now is start scoring goals and Vandenbroek’s prediction could well come true.
