Breaking News:Rangers set sights on new striker with Leeds United star and £60m-rated hitman linked…

Rangers’ stuttering frontline has come in for immense criticism this season as the club’s woes in front of goal continue in the Scottish Premiership.

It took a Jason Holt own goal to break St Johnstone’s resolve in the weekend’s 1-0 victory in Perth and Kris Boyd reckons Rangers’ profligate front line has got a lot to answer for.

But with the club still need to navigate a tricky December fixture list, Rangers do appear to have one eye on the January transfer window.

And whilst Cyriel Dessers, Danilo and Hamza Igamane will have to do until then, the latest transfer reports surrounding Rangers suggest the club is in the market for more firepower.

Rangers linked to English Championship striker

Rangers have been linked with a move for Leeds United striker Joe Gelhardt.

The 22-year-old English hitman is highly thought of at Elland Road but has found chances at a premium under Daniel Farke this season.

According to reports coming out of Yorkshire, Rangers are one of a number of clubs tailing Joe Gelhardt, with the Ibrox side hoping to strike a loan deal in January.

It comes a year on from when Gelhardt almost signed for Old Firm rivals Celtic, who eventually plunged for Norwich City striker Adam Idah instead.

Gelhardt has played only twice in the English Championship this season, both times from the bench, and hasn’t been seen in Leeds colours since coming off the bench against Norwich in October.

Portsmouth, Stoke City, Plymouth Argyle, Preston North End and a pair of unnamed Belgian clubs are also reportedly tailing the striker.

The other striker reportedly interesting Rangers ahead of the January window is Brighton forward Evan Ferguson.

The Republic of Ireland striker, 20, is one of the most highly-rated young forwards in the Premier League with Brighton reportedly slapping a £60m price tag on his head.
