Breaking News:Rangers to re-evaluate August transfers as Oscar Cortes injury issue emerges

Dan Bardell believes Rangers may change their transfer plans after Oscar Cortes went off injured against Hearts.

The Gers began their Scottish Premiership season in frustrating circumstances after falling to a goalless draw at Tynecastle Park.

Their misery was compounded when the Colombian went off with an injury, just four minutes into the second half.

Philippe Clement has since revealed the 20-year-old could be out for “four to five weeks” [STV News].

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has suggested that the Light Blues could look at new transfer options if the winger’s recovery takes longer than expected.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, Bardell said: “All in all, it wasn’t a good opening to the season for Rangers.

“A draw without scoring a goal plus the injury just to compile the misery. Rangers can’t afford to lose good players.

“If it turns out to be a more long term they might have to re-evaluate in the transfer market potentially but it already seems a bit tight.

“It has not been a good start to the season by multiple accounts.

Oscar Cortes set for Rangers injury lay off

The Gers completed the signing of the young Colombian from Lens earlier in the window, with his loan becoming permanent at the end of the campaign.

This makes it all the more frustrating that the wideman will miss the opening weeks of the season due to a fresh injury concern.

Cortes had looked to be a positive force for Rangers away to Hearts, picking up the ball and looking forward where possible.

Considering the alternative for him appears to be either Rabbi Matondo or the recently criticised Vaclav Cerny, it is a blow for Clement and Co.

The ideal situation would be that the youngster can return in as short a time as possible and have a great impact when fit.
