Breaking News:Rangers board stance on Dave King return mooted after John Bennett Ibrox exit
David Edgar admits he doesn’t think Dave King will return to Rangers after new developments at Ibrox this season.
The former Light Blues chairman has revealed that he is open to a return to Glasgow and would be ready to help rebuild the Gers over the next two years after John Bennett stepped down from his role [Chris Jack, 15 September].
Although Heart and Hand host Edgar is keen for an appointment to be made sooner rather than later, he doesn’t believe that other board members would be keen to sanction King’s return.
Writing on X on Sunday (15 September) he said: “I don’t think it’ll happen, to be honest, can’t see the rest of the board going for it.
“But by God we need something.”

As Edgar suggests, Rangers need something to happen sooner rather than later, whether that be the appointment of a new chairman or even a new CEO as that position remains vacant following James Bisgrove’s exit.
Philippe Clement’s side may have managed to pick up an important win against Dundee United on Sunday to ease some pressure on the Belgian and his team, but that doesn’t mean the supporters will give the Gers an easy ride.

King has set out his stall for what he would do to look to rebuild the Light Blues over the next couple of seasons and while that will excite fans, it doesn’t mean that the rest of the Gers board will be interested in his proposal.

Nothing will happen at Ibrox unless the majority of the board is in agreement and as Edgar suggests, it seems unlikely every member will be keen for King to return.
Maybe that will change over the coming weeks. Hopefully a replacement will be found sooner rather than later.
