Breaking News:Rangers best player have decided to leave and never return

Jim White was left flabbergasted by a talkSPORT listener who argued that it is time for Philippe Clement to leave Rangers.

The Rangers fan, named as TJ, texted the show to argue the Belgian should depart Ibrox after failing to qualify for the Champions League.

TJ added that the Gers are arguably in a worse state now than when Steven Gerrard was appointed in May 2018.

In response to that, a surprised White simply replied live on talkSPORT [14 August, 10:12am]: “Really?”

As the debate continued and co-host Simon Jordan argued emotions are running high right now, White added: “My God”.

Philippe Clement sack argument does not stand up

As a reminder, Clement signed a new contract at Ibrox a couple of weeks ago. The club have full faith in the Belgian and rightly so.

While missing out on Celtic to the Scottish Premiership title last season was disappointing after doing the hard work, Clement did at least win a trophy.

Not helped by some terrible decision-making higher up – not least the Ibrox fiasco – Clement is having to oversee this latest rebuild project at the club.

Supporters are massively frustrated after the 2-0 loss to Dynamo Kyiv on Tuesday (13 August), which ended the Gers’ hopes of reaching the Champions League proper.

The less said about the major refereeing decision in that game the better.

And while Clement is no totally devoid of blame, it is incredibly harsh to say he should be sacked as a result.

A season spans nine months and not just over nine days. This result was a massive setback, but the Light Blues still have a title battle to focus on, while also competing for the domestic cups and in the Europa League.

Only judge Clement come the middle of May.

In other Rangers news, Jeff Stelling did not hold back as he reviewed the Gers’ loss to Dynamo Kyiv.
