BREAKING NEWS:Rangers announce a perfect Replacement for Philippe Clement and he is willing to…

Under-fire Rangers boss Philippe Clement will NOT be leaving Rangers tonight, Ibrox sources have told Record Sport.

Wild rumours have spread across Whatsapp and social media claiming the beleaguered Belgian was on the verge of exiting the club by “mutual consent”. The unfounded claims suggested a 6pm press briefing was being prepared to announce his departure. But senior club insiders have described the online claims that he could walk tonight as “nonsense”.

Clement is, though, still clinging onto his job by his fingertips. Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Dundee United leaves his side 11 points adrift of Premiership leaders Celtic and eight behind Aberdeen just 12 games into the season. His team were booed off after that slip-up at home to Jim Goodwin’s side – a game played out in front of a backdrop of thousands of empty seats. That will worry the Rangers board, who are preparing to appoint Malcolm Offord as the club’s new chairman and ex-Manchester United exec Patrick Stewart as James Bisgrove’s replacement as CEO.

But for the time being Clement will remain in charge. As things currently stand, the former Genk, Club Brugge and Monaco gaffer is set to oversee Thursday’s Europa League clash against Nice in France.
