Breaking News:Rangers academy product punches YouTuber multiple times in response to Celtic question

Nathan Patterson demonstrated he remains firmly behind Rangers in the Old Firm rivalry after an appearance on Stillryan’s social media.

 

The Scotland international was joined by Everton teammate Dwight McNeil on the Toffees YouTuber’s show on 11 August and asked to punch the host whilst wearing a boxing glove whenever a “better club than Celtic” was named.

proceeded to do so seven times as Hearts, Dundee United, Motherwell, Ross County, Aberdeen and St Mirren were listed, getting progressively harder before putting the most force behind the mention of the Light Blues.

 

Patterson left for Goodison Park in January 2022 in a deal worth up to £16million [Sky Sports].

The social media segment was clearly in jest but the Glasgow rivalry obviously doesn’t dim just because a player has moved away from Ibrox.

Unfortunately for the right-back and fellow Light Blues supporters they are facing a situation when it is Brendan Rodgers’ side that must be overturned in Scotland, but Philippe Clement’s understrength squad do not yet look well positioned to do so.

 

Patterson, 22, has struggled in recent times under Sean Dyche to leave his Everton status uncertain, and suffered an injury late last season.

Gers supporters might wish Patterson was back in Glasgow currently, with speculation over the future of James Tavernier persisting throughout the summer amid expectations of a move to Trabzonspor [Rangers Review, 23 July] which has yet to materialise.

Dujon Sterling is set to take over the right-back spot if the captain does leave [Rangers Review, 17 July], even though the ex-Chelsea man’s abilities may be needed more in midfield as things stand.
