BREAKING NEWS:Phillipe Clement confirms the return of Todd Cantwell …
Jubilant John Eustace reckons that Todd Cantwell now feels “at home” with Blackburn Rovers after escaping Rangers in the summer.
The playmaker was the hero for Rovers as he netted their crucial goal against Leeds United from the penalty spot to cap off a flying star to life at Ewood Park after a sour end to him time at Ibrox. The 26-year-old endured a rocky relationship with boss Philippe Clement after the Belgian took over the hot seat from Michael Beale – with Cantwell submitting a transfer requested to leave the Scottish Premiership giants.
He would be frozen out of the first-team plans and training with the B team before being sold to the English Championship side on the final day of the summer transfer window. But during his tenure Clement would notably haul Cantwell off after just 35 minutes in the Europa League clash with Aris Limassol before criticising his lack of width on the right flank during the clash with the Cypriot side.
Following the Englishman’s exit, both parties teased that the full story had yet to come out with Cantwell also recently teasing the prospect of a return to Rangers in the future. But it appears that will be a long way down the road with current boss Eustace heaping praise on the midfielder.
