BREAKING NEWS;Philippe Clement makes stunning transfer plans ahead of January….

Celtic are getting ready for Slovan Bratislava and their crack at the new-look Champions League format.

The Parkhead side face the Slovaks at home as they aim to get their campaign in the freshly-designed league format off to a flyer. However, while Celtic are in good domestic form leading into the Euro contest, there are plenty of sceptics who have hit the Hotline to have their say. Graham Roberts, Edinburgh, said: “I’m looking forward to the Celtic sympathisers going into meltdown later this week. If they don’t put five goals past a, mediocre at best, Bratislava team. The daggers will be out from the entitled.”

Gary Stevenson, Newarthill, added: “It’s hilarious reading the bold comments from the usual suspects on the Hotline. Every year it’s the same old old comments in August and September. Then when the European competitions start, they go into hiding until they get knocked out. Hurry up and get your comments in boys. The clock is ticking.

Rangers start in Europe next week against Malmo, but their patchy start to the domestic campaign has put their upcoming bid under the spotlight. Jamie Thompson, Yoker, said: “If the board allows Philippe Clement to field a Europa League Rangers team that gets humiliated, then supporters will revolt against manager and board.

“The signs that this Rangers team is poor have been obvious across the whole pitch that there is something seriously wrong at Ibrox. We need a good investor. If that person gets it right, they will make millions.”

Talking of Ibrox hierarchy, off-field issues are also topical after the decision of chairman John Bennett to step down from post. Robert Livingstone, Palm Beach, said: “Of course a great many Rangers supporters would like to see Dave King back. After all, he was fully responsible for bringing Steven Gerrard to Ibrox to win the league title. With Rangers now in a big mess with poor signings and a manager who’ll never win the league, they need a ruthless hardman to change things quickly for the better, King fits that bill.”
