Breaking News:Philippe Clement can’t start Jefte for Rangers again after Old Firm shocker v Celtic

Philippe Clement must drop Jefte from the Rangers starting XI after a poor performance in the Old Firm against Celtic on Sunday 1 September.

The Gers have fallen to yet another defeat against their most bitter rivals with goals from Daizen Maeda, Kyogo Furuhashi and Callum McGregor the difference on the day.

Despite having the better of the opening exchanges, the Light Blues were dominated for the remainder of the proceedings and got what they deserved in the end.

Moving forward, Clement now has some decisions to make about his team but one player who can not feature again any time soon is Jefte.

Jefte can not play for Rangers again

The Brazilian struggled all day against the attacking talents of the home side with Nicolas Kuhn in particular causing him massive problems.

His showing was deemed “very poor” by former striker Billy Dodds on BBC Sportsound (1 September).

This poor performance started early on and was made clear after the 20-year-old picked up the first yellow card of the game after just 20 minutes for a cynical challenge.

This meant he was walking on eggshells for the remaining 70 minutes up against some of the best forwards in the Premiership.

Jefte was dribbled past once, lost four duels and made just 22 accurate passes despite having 52 touches of the ball throughout (FotMob).

Looking forward to the clash against Dundee United, Clement has to show some faith in Robbie Fraser in the left back role.

The 21-year-old came on against Ross County and now could be in line to make a start ahead of his Brazilian counterpart after the Old Firm disaster.
