BREAKING NEWS;Philip Clement announces the departure of Jack Butland due to..

Jack Butland has sent a message to Connor Goldson after his Rangers exit was announced.

The club confirmed on Tuesday (30 July) that the 31-year-old has joined Cypriot club Aris Limassol, leaving Ibrox after six years and 309 appearances, for a fee in the region of £1.4million [Derek Clark].

Butland has also been heavily linked with a move away from Ibrox this summer, back to the Premier League [The Scotsman], though the club do not have any desire to sell him.

Reacting to the news via his Instagram story on Tuesday (30 July), the shot-stopper wrote: “I wish you nothing but the best mate. I know how much you put in and what it meant to you.”

Could Jack Butland follow Connor Goldson through the Rangers exit doors?

Goldson has been a long-standing servant for the club since arriving through the doors from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2018.

The Gers have a lot to thank the defender for, having led them to their first Scottish Premiership title in the last decade, though the last few months seem to have tarnished his reputation somewhat.

The same can be said for Butland, with some fans turning on him after the Gers’ drop of form towards the end of last season and reports linking him with a move away from Ibrox emerging.

Instead, the 31-year-old looks to be one of the only unsellable players this summer as Philippe Clement and Nils Koppen continue their overhaul of the current squad.

While Liam Kelly has been added to the goalkeeping ranks, most fans will be hoping Butland will remain the number one option next season as the Light Blues aim to pip Celtic to the league title.

Clement needs to find the right balance between the younger generation of players being brought into the squad and the experience needed to win a league title in Scotland.
