Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson both left the club just before that June 30th deadline, and luckily, Newcastle managed to avoid any sanctions.

However, the Magpies did cut it fine here.
Indeed, speaking on NUFC 360, Luke Edwards has now shared just how close Newcastle came to breaching those rules.
According to the journalist, Newcastle were very worried internally and they believed that they were within 48 hours of getting a 10 point penalty within the Premier League.
Edwards shared what he knows about Newcastle’s concerns.
“It was chaos really. Patience was worn thin and tension was high. There were a lot of disagreements and a lot of arguments. You were getting wind of that, but not reporting it at the time. Thankfully, having said all of that, I was really worried and people at the club were worried that they were heading for a 10 points penalty,” Edwards said.
“We were 48 hours away from that happening, but that last 48 hours they got out of that very well by selling Elliot Anderson and
Newcastle United were 48 hours away from their season basically being over before it started, and that’s something that they can’t keep doing.
The Magpies got lucky this time as other clubs were willing to sign their players for inflated fees to do them a favour, but, in the future, that may not be the case.
A lot has been made about how well-run Newcastle have been since the takeover, but to be 48 hours away from a 10 point deduction is very worrying.
