Emile Heskey has told Leicester City players that Everton are “mentally weak” ahead of their Premier League clash on Saturday (21 September).
The Toffees are currently at an all-time low, sitting bottom of the table with zero points after four games and have now been booted out of the EFL Cup by Southampton.
Sean Dyche will be feeling the heat at Goodison Park, with the game against the Foxes already being seen as a relegation six-pointer, and it could be his job on the line if things go sour at the King Power Stadium.
Speaking via talkSPORT on Wednesday (18 September), Heskey said: “Leicester City are more confident than Everton are. If you’re looking at fanbases, Everton’s fans are getting on their players’ backs more than the Leicester fans are.
“As a manager, if I had seen Everton going 2-0 up but still losing the game, I’d be telling my players they’re mentally weak – ‘Get at them, keep getting at them’. They’re just not at it.”
Everton face a must-win clash against Leicester City
To some extent, Heskey will likely be right with his prediction. There is no way the dressing room will have any positivity after throwing away two-goal leads against Bournemouth and Aston Villa.
The only thing he has failed to take into account is Leicester’s desperate need for a victory as well, having grabbed just two points from their opening four games of the campaign.
While the Foxes can take many positives from their draws against Tottenham and Crystal Palace, they will be extremely disappointed after taking a 2-0 lead against the Eagles in their latest match.
There is no sugarcoating this next game. Dyche must pick up all three points at the King Power Stadium or it could be his job on the line.
