Dan Bardell wouldn’t be surprised to see Patrick Bamford start for Leeds United ahead of Mateo Joseph against Swansea City.

The Englishman is yet to make a Championship start this season but could be in line to come in at the Swansea.com Stadium on Saturday (23 November).

This comes after Joseph started both games for Spain Under-21s during the international break, leaving a break of just four days between his last game and the upcoming clash.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has suggested that Daniel Farke could bench the 21-year-old against the Swans in favour of Bamford.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Bardell said: “Players that don’t go away on international duty, like Bamford, get benefit in the week with the manager.

“Sometimes these players become a little bit more fresh in the manager’s eyes. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Bamford start against Swansea ahead of Joseph.

“Leeds need to amass as many points as possible to have them fighting at the upper echelons of the league so a change wouldn’t surprise me.“

It is safe to say that it has been a difficult period for the ex-Chelsea youngster at Elland Road which has seen him score just one goal since April.

As a result, Farke has opted to utilise Joseph and Joel Piroe in the number nine role with the Spaniard scoring two while providing three assists in nine Championship starts.

At 21, the former Espanyol starlet needs to be managed so opting not to start him against Swansea could be wise.
