Breaking News:Leeds United transfers: New Rangers twist revealed in Joe Gelhardt chase…

Rangers are unlikely to sign Leeds United striker Joe Gelhardt due to financial issues, according to TEAMtalk.

The news outlet reported on 10 January that the Ibrox outfit were considering a loan deal with the option to buy the 22-year-old in the summer.

However, that deal is not expected to materialise in the coming weeks and there are other clubs keen on signing the striker. [Football League World, 10 January]

Leeds United must not lower their demands for Rangers

Given the interest in Gelhardt from multiple clubs, it’s strategically wise for Leeds to hold off and see which offers align closest to their valuation for the striker.

Rangers’ financial constraints clearly make any deal with them less feasible, rendering further negotiations with them somewhat futile.

By waiting, the Whites can leverage the interest from other clubs to potentially drive up the price or secure better terms for a loan or permanent transfer.

This approach not only maximises their financial return but also ensures that Gelhardt moves to a club where he can continue his development in an environment that matches his career aspirations.

It seems clear that his time at Elland Road is done and he’s unlikely to ever become a first-team regular there.

Since Rangers have already indicated they can’t meet the financial demands, it’s prudent for Leeds to focus on clubs with the economic capacity to meet their terms and finalise the deal this month.

In other Leeds United news, a huge update has emerged on the club’s quest to secure the services of a £40m-rated player.
