Breaking News:Leeds United-linked star poised to quit current club in January in huge transfer boost for Daniel Farke…

Leeds United may have just received a timely boost in pursuit of a player who’s been strongly linked with a move to Elland Road ahead of January.

Leeds United don’t have too many players on their January transfer radar as of yet. But with the winter window opening in half-a-month’s time now, we could soon see a wave of new names linked with the club.

For Daniel Farke, January looks like it could be more about potential player exits, with Joe Gelhardt tipped to leave Leeds United having made just two Championship appearances all season.

Elsewhere, Junior Firpo is wanted by Besiktas and there’s lingering uncertainty over Illan Meslier’s Leeds United future as well.

But one player who Leeds are looking at is James McAtee. It was reported in November that Leeds United are eyeing a loan move for McAtee, who’s struggling for gametime under Pep Guardiola this season.

Leeds United handed possible James McAtee boost as Man City news emerges

It was previously thought that City didn’t want to offload McAtee in January. But it has since been revealed that Manchester City will consider offers for McAtee in January, with a hefty £20million price tag mentioned.

Now, GIVEMESPORT have revealed that the 22-year-old midfielder is ‘increasingly likely’ to leave City in January, but that Crystal Palace and West Ham look the most keen as things stand.

Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen are also keen and so Leeds’ chances of a deal for McAtee look slim right now, unless City would prefer a loan deal, in which case McAtee to Leeds might be more plausible.

Leeds United told why they have an edge in James McAtee race

Rivalling the likes of Palace, West Ham, and Leverkusen will certainly prove tough for Leeds, especially so for a player valued at £20million.

But speaking recently, Carlton Palmer explained why Leeds United have an advantage in the McAtee race.

He said: “Man City would prefer a Premier League move but he needs to be playing football. Leeds are pushing for automatic promotion, what he needs is to be playing regularly.”

Leeds would no doubt be able to offer McAtee regular game time: for City, that would be a plus if they’re looking to loan him out, and for McAtee, playing football is surely his first and foremost priority come January.

Whilst it looks a difficult pursuit for the Whites as things stand, signing McAtee in January is not impossible.
