Breaking News:Leeds United to agree pre-January transfer for goalkeeper, 3-year deal drawn up – Report…

Leeds United are reportedly set to agree a signing for talented Australian goalkeeper Robbie Cook this month, moving from Perth Glory.

The Whites still sit in the top two despite their dropped points away at Preston on Saturday afternoon, where Illan Meslier came in for criticism for his role in the opening goal they conceded.

It adds further fuel to long-term speculation of who should be between the sticks at Elland Road, and the club reportedly have their sights on a young investment.

The 17-year-old has seemingly impressed Elland Road scouts whilst playing in Australia and on a recent trial at Thorp Arch, and is poised for a three-year contract at Thorp Arch.

Which position do Leeds need to strengthen most in January?

Manchester United and Sunderland were both in the hunt for Cook’s signature, but the decision looks to have been made.

The 6ft2in ‘keeper has yet to make a senior appearance for Perth Glory, but will come to Thorp Arch looking to make his way through the youth setup.

When some of our most important players since relegation have been these academy signings – Crysencio Summerville and Pascal Struijk – it underlines the merit of this approach to signings.

Of course, a 17-year-old goalkeeper isn’t going to have any bearing on our promotion bid, but it does give us something long-term to look forward to.

Given Rory Mahady’s impressive showings in our U21s this season, it’s going to be interesting to see how Cook develops here if he ends up joining.

Leeds United season ticket holder since 2013/14, currently situated in the middle of the FA5 noise. From Pablo Hernandez to 5-1 drubbings, I’ve seen it all at Elland Road.
