BREAKING NEWS:Kilmarnock vs Rangers kick-off time has been reschedule due to
Rangers will have to contend with injuries in their wide ranks against Kilmarnock on Sunday with a number of stars being confirmed to be on the treatment table.
The Ibrox outfit have found their feet again in the Scottish Premiership after a slow start to the season – and although they face a tough test on paper, they’ll be looking to make it three wins on the trot in the league as they face Derek McInnes’ side.
Philippe Clement’s men won 2-0 against St Johnstone before the international break and the Light Blues will be determined to make sure they back that up with another crucial three points and cut the gap on the top two. But with winger injuries to contend with, decisions may need to be made in the attacking areas.
Nils Koppen comments benefit Rangers midfield duo
Similar in profile, however, where Raskin is probably a better forward passer, Barron has greater leadership qualities – in short, there isn’t much between them.
Speaking to The Rangers Review, Nils Koppen’s explanation as to why another defence minded midfielder or deep-lying playmaker wasn’t brought in makes a lot of sense:
“Connor Barron has started really well, and you have Nico Raskin in that position too. Maybe we could have signed a No.6 this season and pushed again and again over the limit financially, but then do you also kill the value of the players you have in that position?
“There are so many factors attached to all the decisions you make. You have to consider the overall picture. The cost, the other players in that position and the long-term strategy.”
