Tyran Stokes is one of the most physically gifted players in the 2026 class, which has led to many wondering if he was going to reclassify to 2025.
However, in an interview with Kentucky Sports Radio’s Jack Pilgrim, Stokes expressed that he will be remaining in 2026.
“Without a doubt staying in 2026,” he said while also adding that he doesn’t want to rush to college.
With two more years of high school ball in his future, the 6-foot-7 wing, who already averages 20 points and 8.3 rebounds with shooting splits of 51/40/76 on the EYBL circuit, is going to be sought after by every school in the country.

As for the schools that are heavily recruiting Stokes, that list includes USC, Arkansas, Kansas, Louisville, North Carolina, UCF, and Kentucky.
But it is Kansas and Kentucky that Stokes is hearing the most from the head coach himself.
An interesting tidbit, however, is that Stokes, a Louisville native, grew up in a family that represented Cardinal red instead of Kentucky blue. According to Stokes, that will have zero impact on his decision.
“They don’t really care. They just want me doing what’s best for me, the best opportunity,” he said. “Whatever school I go to, they’re gonna support me regardless — even if it’s the opposite of what they like.”
As for Kentucky’s recruitment, Stokes is a fan of Mark Pope and the relationship they are building.
“I mean, it’s still close to home and still a great, great program with a great coach,” Stokes said. “Coach Mark (Pope), he’s a great dude. He’s always texting me, catching up and telling me congratulations on the games and stuff like that. For the most part, I’m talking to Coach Mark.”
As for a timeline, Stokes said that he has no timeline at all right now. He is just building relationships with coaches and preparing for his high school season.
