Breaking News:Jose Cifuentes next Rangers player to leave after new transfer announcement

Rangers outcast Jose Cifuentes could be the next player to exit Ibrox after Connor Goldson, according to Sky Sports.

The outlet reported on 30 July that the Ecuador international could be joining Aris Thessaloniki on an initial loan deal that would include an option to buy.

Talks between the clubs and the player are still ongoing after he exited on loan to Brazilian side Cruzeiro in January.

Rangers seeing the back of Jose Cifuentes would be good for the club

Cifuentes is one of the many Michael Beale signings that haven’t worked out as they were intended to.

Much like the now departed Sam Lammers [Chris Jack, 29 July], the midfielder was signed by the former boss and was touted to be the next best thing for the Gers’ midfield.

And whilst he managed to appear a total of 20 times in all competitions for the Gers at the start of the 2023/24 season, he lost this place in the side and was sent to Cruzeiro in January.

This resulted in the club relying upon the likes of Ryan Jack and John Lundstram who have now exited to hold down the centre of the park.

The Gers are still undergoing a vast array of changes within their ranks this summer and will be hoping to try to compete with Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title.

And, who knows, if the Greek side chooses to not activate their option to buy come the end of the deal, his season with the club could help improve his overall game and the Ecuadorian could be afforded another chance in Philippe Clement’s first-team.

In other Rangers news, a Premier League ace that the Light Blues have a “genuine interest” in is expected to move within days.
