Breaking News:Jeff Stelling leaves talkSPORT studio in stitches with Rangers, Celtic title prediction

Jeff Stelling left the talkSPORT studio in stitches with a prediction regarding the Scottish Premiership title battle between Rangers and Celtic.

During the live broadcast (5 August, 06:56), Stelling was asked which of the Old Firm pair he expected to prevail come the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

Stelling, who has made a habit of winding up co-presenter Ally McCoist, replied simply: “Celtic”.

Naturally, with McCoist being a Rangers great, that response was always going to create some humour. Shebahn Aherne and Andy Townsend joined Stelling in fits of laughter before they composed themselves.

It comes in the wake of Rangers drawing their league opener 0-0 with Hearts, while Celtic were comfortable 4-0 winners at home to Kilmarnock.

Rangers in for another tough title battle

Something like this is bound to happen on a fun network like talkSPORT. Stelling made it known that he felt like Rangers were in for a tough campaign after what he saw against Hearts.

While you can’t make too many claims just one game into the season, Celtic certainly looked far more composed in their 4-0 win over Kilmarnock.

Celtic have dominated the league for a few years now. While Rangers aren’t a million miles off the pace, it’s important to start strong.

There are undoubtedly going to be questions regarding preparation and where Philippe Clement’s side are at. That’s to be expected but at the same time, it’s definitely cause for concern.

The Ibrox faithful aren’t going to give up in a hurry. They know that this is a marathon, not a sprint.

Hopefully, with the right signings in the weeks to come, the Gers can look forward to a brighter future. Either way, though, expect a lot more of this talk across the course of the campaign.
